Rouxbee LLC ("we," "us," or "our") operates the WasteNot mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information. By using WasteNot, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Photos and Images
When you use the Scan feature, photos you take or select from your library are temporarily sent to our server-side proxy for processing by Anthropic's Claude AI in order to detect food ingredients. These images are transmitted securely, used solely to generate a list of detected ingredients, and are not stored on our servers after processing is complete.
Pantry and Recipe Data
Ingredients you save to your pantry and recipes you bookmark are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data does not leave your device unless you explicitly enable any future sync features.
Ratings and Reviews
When you submit a star rating or written review for a recipe, that rating and review text are sent to and stored in our database (hosted on Cloudflare). Reviews are not publicly attributed to you by name — they are used in aggregate to improve recipe quality and recommendations.
Notification Permissions
If you grant notification permission, we use it solely to send you a local on-device notification when recipe generation is complete. No notification data is transmitted to our servers.
Information We Do NOT Collect
We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, location, or any other personal identifiers. We do not use advertising networks, analytics SDKs, or tracking technologies of any kind.
We do not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties for marketing purposes.
Anthropic (Claude AI)
Photos submitted for ingredient detection and pantry data used for recipe generation are processed by Anthropic's Claude API via our secure server-side proxy. Anthropic's privacy policy applies to data processed by their API. We do not send any personally identifiable information to Anthropic. For details, see anthropic.com/privacy.
Cloudflare
Our proxy server and recipe database are hosted on Cloudflare's infrastructure. Cloudflare may log standard server access data (IP addresses, request timestamps) as part of normal infrastructure operation. For details, see cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
Apple
The App uses Apple's frameworks including SwiftData, PhotosUI, and AVFoundation. Apple's privacy policy governs their data handling. For details, see apple.com/privacy.
Your pantry and recipe data is stored locally on your device and protected by your device's built-in security (Face ID, passcode, etc.). Data transmitted to our servers (photos for scanning, ratings and reviews) is sent over HTTPS (TLS encryption). We retain recipe ratings and reviews indefinitely to power recommendations, but they are not linked to any personally identifiable information.
WasteNot is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at Support@rouxbee.com and we will promptly delete it.
If you are a California resident, you may have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to request deletion, and the right to opt out of sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information. Because we collect minimal identifying information, most CCPA rights are satisfied by the nature of our data practices. To exercise any rights, contact us at Support@rouxbee.com.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, particularly as we add features such as user accounts and community content. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
