Rouxbee LLC ("we," "us," or "our") operates the WasteNot mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information. By using WasteNot, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Account Information
If you create an account, we collect your email address and a unique user identifier assigned by our authentication provider (Supabase). If you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account email and name (used only to pre-fill your display name). If you sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple-provided email and, on the very first sign-in only, your name. You may also optionally provide a display name and short bio in your profile. This information is stored in our cloud database (hosted on Supabase) and is used solely to identify your account and sync your data across devices.
Photos and Images
When you use the Scan feature, photos you take or select from your library are sent to our server-side proxy for processing by Anthropic's Claude AI to detect food ingredients. These images are transmitted securely over HTTPS. We store these photos on our servers (hosted on Cloudflare) along with the list of ingredients you confirm from each scan. We use this stored data to improve and train our own ingredient-detection technology. Photos are associated with a non-identifying reference and are not linked to your name, email address, or any other personal identifier.
Pantry and Recipe Data
Ingredients you add to your pantry and recipes you save are stored on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. When you are signed in to an account, this data is also synced to our cloud database (hosted on Supabase) so it is available across your devices and can be restored after reinstalling the app. Your pantry and recipe data is associated with your account's user ID.
Ratings, Reviews, and Community Recipes
When you submit a star rating, written review, or a recipe to the community, that content is sent to and stored in our database (hosted on Cloudflare). Community recipes are displayed publicly within the App. Ratings and reviews are used in aggregate to improve recipe quality and recommendations and are not publicly attributed to you by name.
Notification Permissions
If you grant notification permission, we use it solely to send you local on-device notifications (for example, when recipe generation is complete). No notification data is transmitted to our servers.
Information We Do NOT Collect
We do not collect your phone number, physical address, payment information (purchases are handled entirely by Apple), or precise location. We do not use advertising networks, third-party analytics SDKs, or cross-app tracking technologies of any kind.
We do not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties for marketing purposes.
Anthropic (Claude AI)
Photos submitted for ingredient detection and pantry data used for recipe generation are processed by Anthropic's Claude API via our secure server-side proxy. We do not send personally identifiable information (such as your email address) to Anthropic. For details, see anthropic.com/privacy.
Supabase
User accounts, authentication, pantry data, and saved recipes are stored in a database hosted on Supabase. Supabase acts as our backend infrastructure provider. For details, see supabase.com/privacy.
Cloudflare
Our AI proxy server, recipe database, and scan photo storage are hosted on Cloudflare's infrastructure. Cloudflare may log standard server access data (IP addresses, request timestamps) as part of normal infrastructure operation. For details, see cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
Apple
The App uses Apple's frameworks including SwiftData, PhotosUI, and AVFoundation, and processes all in-app purchases through Apple. Apple's privacy policy governs their data handling. For details, see apple.com/privacy.
Your pantry and recipe data is stored both locally on your device (protected by your device's built-in security such as Face ID and passcode) and in our cloud database when you are signed in to an account. All data transmitted to our servers is sent over HTTPS (TLS encryption). We retain account information for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at Support@rouxbee.com. Scan photos and their associated ingredient labels are retained to improve our ingredient-detection technology and are not linked to any personally identifiable information.
WasteNot is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at Support@rouxbee.com and we will promptly delete it.
If you are a California resident, you may have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to request deletion, and the right to opt out of sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To exercise any rights or request deletion of your account data, contact us at Support@rouxbee.com.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as we add new features. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
